TAV. 02 — The base · Cannigione, Gulf of Arzachena

Gallura makes sense
from the sea

The Sardinian base of the NAVY rental boats is at Cannigione, the village overlooking the Gulf of Arzachena, in the province of Sassari. It is the quiet side of the Costa Smeralda: from here, unhurried, the gulf opens towards Porto Cervo on one side and towards Palau and the archipelago on the other. Those arriving in Sardinia find the base 44 minutes by road from Olbia-Costa Smeralda airport and 36 from the port of Olbia, where the ferries dock; Porto Cervo is 22 minutes away, Palau 23. The rest of the holiday begins on the water.

Both rental models are at Cannigione: the NAVY 7.60 with 250 hp, for a half or a full day, with our skipper too, and the NAVY 6.00 with 40 hp for those who hold no licence. The 3-day package is also linked to the 7.60 at Cannigione. The real photographs on this page show the 7.60 at anchor among the granite rocks.

Granite, scrub
and clear water

You start from the gulf, to begin gently

GULF OF ARZACHENA · DEPARTURE FROM CANNIGIONE

The day begins inside the Gulf of Arzachena, with the coast always close: for anyone helming a RIB for the first time it is the right stretch to get the feel of the wheel before heading out towards the coves. Zones, hours and limits are set by the ordinance of the competent Harbour Master's office: we explain them at the handover.

The granite coves, each one different from the next

PALE SAND · PINK GRANITE · SEABED IN VIEW

From the gulf you head out towards the granite coves that made this coast famous: you drop anchor on sand, with the seabed in plain sight, and swim from the ladder of the stern platforms. Which coves and how far, we explain at the handover, according to the Harbour Master's ordinance and the weather of the day.

7.60 metres overall, up to 15 people

1.3 MM ORCA TUBES · ROLL BAR WITH LIGHTS · STERN PLATFORMS WITH LADDER

The NAVY 7.60 is 2.89 metres wide: there is room for many to move about, among the full upholstery, the centre console with its instruments, the helm seat with its grab rail and the retractable table, the roll bar with the navigation lights and the stern platforms with the ladder. It is the same model we use for the sea trials at Nettuno, for those who want to buy one.

250 hp astern, to go far

250 HP OUTBOARD · 280 LITRE TANK

With the 250 hp astern and 280 litres in the tank, the 7.60 has the margin for a long day, from the gulf to the coves towards Palau. A boating licence is required; those without one choose the 6.00 with the 40 hp, or the 7.60 with our skipper aboard.

or full day

The 7.60 carries up to 15 people on 7.60 metres overall and 2.89 of beam, with a 280 litre tank for a long day. At Cannigione it is rented in 4 formulas: a half day of 5 hours or a full day of 9 hours, helmed by you with a boating licence, or a half day or a full day with our skipper at the helm, and then no more than 12 people come aboard, as the law on charter requires. The price of the formula you choose is written in the confirmation.

NAVY 6.00 · 40 hp · no licence required

12 hours,
licence-free

6.00 metres overall by 2.50 of beam, up to 10 people, a 40 hp astern: with this engine the 6.00 stays below the legal limit of 30 kW, that is 40.8 hp, and within the engine-capacity limits, and can be helmed without a licence within 6 miles of the coast. At Cannigione it is taken for 12 hours: you leave in the morning and come back in the evening. Before departure we hand you the essential helm instructions in writing, as the Italian Recreational Boating Code requires, show you the controls at the console and tell you how far you may go while staying within 6 miles.

With our skipper

You look around,
we take the helm

Only on the Costa Smeralda can the NAVY 7.60 also be rented with our skipper aboard. It is the formula for those who have no licence but want the 250 hp, for those who do not know the coast and prefer the coves to be chosen by someone who does, for those who want to spend the day with their guests rather than with the wheel in their hands. With the skipper it is a crewed charter in the full sense, as the Italian Recreational Boating Code defines it: the person at the helm holds a licence and no more than 12 people come aboard.

  • Half day with skipper: our skipper is at the helm, no more than 12 people aboard.
  • Full day with skipper: the same rule, and we plan the tour of the coves together.
  • Half day without skipper: 5 hours, you helm, with a boating licence.
  • Full day without skipper: 9 hours, you helm, with a boating licence.

Duration, departure time and price are written in the confirmation; we plan the day with the skipper together, according to who comes aboard and the forecast.

For the Costa Smeralda it is worth writing a few weeks ahead, especially in high season: at Cannigione there are 2 rental models. Tell us the dates, how many of you there are, whether you hold a licence and whether you want the skipper; we reply with the availability and a written confirmation, with the price, the boarding point, the departure time and the full conditions, before any payment.

And if after a day at sea you want a NAVY of your own, we deliver it to the port you tell us, in Sardinia too, with the cost of transport written into the quote. First you stop by the showroom in Aprilia (LT), and the sea trial is done at Nettuno, by appointment, on our own 7.60.
