PLATE 02 — The answers, in one line

First, the thing
that matters

Almost everyone asks us about the price first, and straight after whether the engine is included. Below you will find the short answers to the questions that come up most often; further down, subject by subject, the full answers. The prices are those of the public price list, the lead times are those written in our terms of sale, and the licence rules are those of Italian law.

Subject 01 · Prices

What does
it cost

The price of a NAVY RIB is always written in one way only: «from», plus VAT, engine not included. It is the rule we have set ourselves, because this is exactly where misunderstandings begin. Here you will find the price list model by model, what «turnkey» means and what comes as standard.

How much does a NAVY RIB cost?

NAVY RIB prices start from: NAVY 4.80 from €13,924 + VAT (€16,987.28 incl. 22% Italian VAT) · NAVY 5.50 from €15,900 + VAT (€19,398.00) · NAVY 6.00 from €17,987 + VAT (€21,944.14) · NAVY 6.60 from €28,800 + VAT (€35,136.00) · NAVY 7.60 from €33,000 + VAT (€40,260.00) · NAVY 9.50 Cabin from €86,900 + VAT (€106,018.00). All prices are without the engine. Tell us which size you have in mind and we will prepare the complete figure for you.

Are the prices on the website inclusive or exclusive of VAT?

The prices you see on the website are net: they are exclusive of VAT and do not include the engine, which is chosen separately according to how you intend to use the boat. Next to every price you will also find the amount with 22% Italian VAT already worked out. This applies to every NAVY RIB, from the 4.80 to the 9.50 Cabin.

Is the engine included in the price of the RIB?

No. The price of the RIB does not include the engine, because the engine is chosen to suit your needs: power, make, rigging. If you wish, we will prepare the complete figure for RIB plus engine straight away, with several engine options.

What do «turnkey» or «ready for the mooring» mean?

They mean receiving the boat ready to go to sea: hull with standard fit-out, outboard, console with wheel and steering, electrical system with battery, battery switch and navigation lights, fuel tank, upholstery, ladder and bilge pump. Tell us which model you have in mind and what kind of outings you plan: we will prepare the complete figure, if you wish with the most suitable engine, so you have the final price in front of you straight away.

Do you have a catalogue or a price list for the whole range?

Yes: on the range and price pages you will find every NAVY model with its «from» price, plus VAT and engine not included. For options and for a precise configuration we prepare an itemised quote. The quote for a NAVY RIB shows the price + VAT, the engine you have chosen and the cost of transport to your harbour.

What is standard and what is optional?

On the RIBs up to the 7.60 the standard equipment is: a console complete with gauges, a roll bar with navigation lights, stern swim platforms, a steel stern ladder and standard upholstery. The Lusso upholstery is an extra. We quote the options item by item on the model you have chosen. The quote for your NAVY RIB lists them one by one, each with its price.

The engine
is yours to choose

Honda · Yamaha · Mercury · with or without an engine

A NAVY RIB can also be bought on its own. If you want the engine from us, you choose the power and the make separately, and we quote the engine package together with the boat, on the same bill.

Subject 02 · Engine

How much
power

The right power depends on the size of the RIB and on how you use it. We fit Honda, Yamaha and Mercury outboards, all with equal weight: no make comes before the others. And if you already have an engine, the RIB can be bought on its own.

What engine does it need? What power do you recommend?

It depends on the size and on the use. With a 40 hp we recommend going up to the 6 metre; on the NAVY 7.60 we recommend 200/250 hp; on the NAVY 9.50 Cabin the configuration is twin outboards, and we decide the power together at the quote. The minimum, recommended and maximum power of each model is on its data sheet.

Which engine makes do you fit?

Honda, Yamaha and Mercury are the outboards we power the NAVYs with. You choose the make, together with the power. The three makes apply to the whole NAVY range: for your RIB we can compare several engine proposals, and the engine you choose is written in the quote, next to the price of the boat.

I already have my own engine: can I buy just the RIB?

Yes, the RIB is sold with or without an engine. We assess the match with your engine on the chosen model: we need the data from its rating plate. The price of every NAVY RIB is already quoted with the engine not included. From the rating plate data we check that the power falls within the range stated on the model's data sheet.

One engine or two?

The NAVY 7.60 can be fitted with a single or a twin engine installation, but we recommend the single engine: with twin engines you lose the stern swim platforms. Our sea-trial boat in Nettuno is in fact a NAVY 7.60 with a single outboard, a Honda 250: at sea you can feel how the NAVY RIB handles with a single engine before you decide.

PLATE 06

Without a licence · what Italian law says

The licence follows
the engine

Under Italian law, whether you need a boat licence depends not on the length of the boat but on the engine and on the distance from the coast. Within 6 miles of the coast no licence is needed if the outboard exceeds neither 30 kW of power, that is 40.8 hp, nor 1,000 cc of displacement for a four-stroke. Beyond 6 miles a licence is always required, whatever the engine.

That is why the 40 hp outboard is the choice of those without a licence, and with the 40 hp we recommend staying up to the 6 metre: three sizes in the range, the 4.80, the 5.50 and the 6.00. To those who hire out boats to be driven without a licence we recommend the 5.50 or the 6.00, with engines all of the same make.

Subject 03 · Licence and fleets

Without a
licence

The questions from those who want to drive without a licence, and from those buying for a company, a hire business or a boating school. The answers quote the real threshold set by Italian law, not the short formula you hear on the quayside.

Which RIB can I drive without a licence?

Under Italian law the licence is tied to the engine, not to the boat: within 6 miles of the coast it is not needed if the engine does not exceed 30 kW (40.8 hp) and the displacement limits set by law (1,000 cc for a four-stroke outboard). Beyond 6 miles it is always required. A 40 hp engine can be fitted to the NAVY models between 4 and 6 metres: the 4.80, the 5.50 and the 6.00.

What is the largest RIB that works with a 40 hp?

With the 40 hp we recommend boats of up to 6 metres: in the NAVY range, the 4.80, 5.50 or 6.00. It is the engine for going out without a licence within 6 miles of the coast, inside the Italian legal limits of 30 kW (40.8 hp) and of displacement; beyond 6 metres we do not recommend it. With a licence you can fit a more powerful engine, up to the maximum power on each model's data sheet.

We need a licence-free RIB for our company or to hire out: is that possible?

Yes. The solutions with a 40 hp engine are also suited to business use: we prepare the quote in the company's name and a tailored configuration. For those who hire boats out in Italy, with an engine within the legal limits the boat can still be driven without a boat licence, and it reaches a wider clientele.

I am opening a hire business or a boating school: which model do you recommend? Do you quote for several boats?

Yes. For licence-free hire in Italy the right models are the NAVY 5.50 or the 6.00 with a 40 hp engine; a single engine make for the whole fleet makes sense. We put transport on the bill: we just need to know where the boats have to arrive. The delivery schedule is agreed on order confirmation. Tell us how many boats you need, for which area and for what kind of use.

Subject 04 · Lead times and delivery

When does
it arrive

A made-to-order NAVY is built after the order, one at a time: that is why we tell you the lead times as they really are, without promising dates. Then the RIB comes to you, in the harbour or at home, with the transport already written into the bill.

How long does it take from order to delivery?

For a boat in stock, within 7 working days. For a made-to-order RIB up to the 7.60, about three months from order confirmation. For the NAVY 9.50 Cabin we set the lead times together on order confirmation. For a NAVY RIB in stock, the 7 working days are counted from order confirmation.

If I order now, will I have it for the summer?

We build to order, so for next season we recommend confirming your order early: it is the way to secure your place in production. We do not promise dates we cannot keep: we tell you how things really stand at the time of the order. If you need it sooner, ask us whether there is a NAVY RIB in stock in the size you are looking for: availability changes often, and we tell you at the time.

Do you also deliver far from Aprilia, for example to Sardinia, Sicily or the northern lakes?

Yes. We deliver to the harbour you name or straight to your home, and the cost of transport is written into the quote. Delivery to Sardinia is handled by us too, and we take care of everything needed. We organise the delivery of your NAVY RIB throughout Italy, islands included.

Answers you read,
a NAVY you try

Every question on this page has a written answer, but the most important one is given on the water: how the boat meets the wave, how it turns, how dry it stays. Step aboard, open the lockers, touch the tube, sit at the helm. Come and see them in person. Then try them at sea.

Subject 05 · Seeing and buying

In person,
at sea

Where to see the NAVYs, where to try them, whom to contact. Sales are direct, with no local intermediaries: from the first phone call to delivery day, you always deal with us.

Where can I see the RIBs in person?

The showroom is in Aprilia (LT), between Rome and Latina, and we do sea trials in Nettuno: we set the day together, by appointment. If you are far away we can also start with a video call. In the showroom you can look at a NAVY RIB up close, on land and without hurry: the ORCA fabric of the tubes, the fibreglass of the hull, the stitching of the upholstery.

Can I have a sea trial?

Yes, in Nettuno. For sea trials we have our own NAVY 7.60 powered by a Honda 250. Those interested in the cabin model can try the 7.60 in the meantime, to judge trim, handling and solidity. To book a sea trial of a NAVY RIB, a WhatsApp message or a phone call is all it takes.

Will you send me the data sheet?

Yes. Every model has its own page with gallery and data; we send the data sheet on request. On the NAVY model pages you will find dimensions, capacity, recommended power, standard equipment and the «from» price + VAT, engine not included. If you need the data sheet for a comparison or for a leasing application, tell us and we will send it for the model you are considering.

Do you have a dealer in my area?

No: we handle sales directly from Aprilia. You do not need to look for anyone locally: everything goes through us, from configuration to delivery, anywhere in Italy. For your NAVY RIB you therefore have a single point of contact: configuration, quote, transport and delivery are all handled by us from Aprilia (LT).

We would like to represent your brand in our area: how does it work?

We are happy to talk about it in person: we invite you to Aprilia and to a sea trial in Nettuno. To start, tell us whether you have a display space or a pontoon and how many boats you handle each season. From there we begin to talk about the NAVY RIBs that suit your area.

«We tell you how things really stand, and we put the final figure in front of you.»

Subject 06 · Payment and trade-in

How you
pay

Deposit, stage payments, balance on delivery: payment follows three steps, by bank transfer. The purchase can be financed, including through marine leasing, and we assess your used boat as a trade-in. No invented instalments and no figures sight unseen: everything is written next to the quote.

How do I pay?

In three steps: a deposit on order confirmation, stage payments during production, the balance on delivery. The documents are the deposit invoice, the sales contract and the delivery report. Payment is by bank transfer. Before order confirmation, and therefore before the deposit, you already have the quote for your NAVY RIB in writing.

Can the purchase be financed?

Yes: the boat can be financed, including through marine leasing. We discuss it together with the quote. You will not find instalments or interest rates on the website, because they depend on the financing application: they become visible once the application is set up on the NAVY RIB you have chosen, with its price + VAT and the engine.

Do you offer marine leasing?

Yes: every NAVY model can also be bought through marine leasing. We prepare an offer with the data sheet and the amounts, ready to be forwarded for the application. If you are buying for a business, we make out the offer for the NAVY RIB to the company, like any quote.

Is there long-term rental, as with cars?

It is not a formula we have on our price list. We can, however, compare for you an outright purchase, a purchase with trade-in and a financed purchase. For your NAVY RIB we write the comparison of the three routes next to the quote, on the same model.

Will you assess my RIB or my boat as a trade-in?

We are glad to assess a used boat as a trade-in. To give you a serious figure we need the year, where the boat is kept and a few photographs: tubes, deck and engine, with its rating plate data. We write the proposal for your used boat next to the quote for the new NAVY RIB, so you can see straight away the difference to cover.

How a NAVY is made

Made to measure,
one at a time

Before the last two questions, the two things that explain them: a NAVY is built to order, with no assembly line, and it carries the choices of the person who ordered it.

White raised 7.60 NAVY lettering on the anthracite tube, black roll bar in the background
FIG. 10 — White raised 7.60 NAVY lettering on the anthracite tube, black roll bar in the background

Tubes and fibreglass

ORCA fabric,
under your fingers

The tube fabric is ORCA Hypalon-neoprene by Pennel & Flipo, from the 4.80 to the 9.50 Cabin: 1.3 mm thick from the 4.80 to the 7.60. The critical seams are double- or triple-welded by hand, and every tube goes through a pressure test and a visual inspection. Hull, deck, stern platforms and console are in fibreglass with increased thickness, in white or in black. Under your fingers, a tube is something else entirely.

Made-to-order configuration

Yours,

Tube colour, white or black fibreglass, teak, upholstery, options and engine: every NAVY is built to order, one at a time. As standard the tubes come in three colours, Deep Night, White Stone and Navy Blue (Notte Profonda, Pietra Bianca and Blu Navy in the catalogue); the deck is synthetic EVA teak and, on request, solid natural teak 8-12 mm thick; the Lusso upholstery is diamond-quilted. Every choice is written in the quote.

Subject 07 · Construction and warranty

How it
is made

The last two questions come from those who have already settled on a size and want to know what they are buying: how far a NAVY can be customised, what the tubes are made of, how many years the warranty lasts.

Can it be customised? Colours, teak, cushions, special modifications?

Yes: we build boats to measure, so we are happy to take on modifications. You choose the hull colour (white or black), the tube colour, synthetic EVA teak or natural teak on request, and Standard or Lusso upholstery. With the 3D configurator you can put your boat together and send us the configuration. Special requests too, such as room for diving cylinders or a relocated console, we study with our workshop.

How is a NAVY built? What tubes does it have? How many years of warranty?

We build every boat to order, one at a time, with no assembly line. From the 4.80 to the 7.60 the tubes are in ORCA fabric by Pennel & Flipo, 1.3 mm Hypalon-neoprene; the NAVY 9.50 Cabin also has ORCA tubes by Pennel & Flipo in Hypalon-neoprene. The hulls are in fibreglass with increased thickness. We are so confident in our work that we offer up to 15 years' warranty.
