A RIB is judged after years of sun and salt, not on delivery day. So before colours and options, here is what the NAVY warranty actually says, what stands behind that figure, and who to call if one day you need to.

The wording, word for word

Fifteen years,
written in the price list

Up to 15 years' warranty: that is the line that goes with every NAVY RIB, and it is the same line you find in the terms and conditions of the NAVY price list, clause 5, «Warranty and assistance». It is not a shop-window slogan: it is a line in a document.

FIG. 01 — Close-up of the dark grey raised NAVY lettering on the white tube of the 7.60: real photograph, showroom.
«All our products are covered by a 15-YEAR warranty. For any problem or assistance, the customer can contact our customer service.»
SOURCE — Terms and conditions of the NAVY price list, clause 5, «Warranty and assistance» (our translation from the Italian).

Why «up to»? Because a NAVY is made of parts that do not share the same life: the fibreglass hull and deck, the ORCA fabric tubes, an engine built by another manufacturer, the electronics at the helm. Fifteen years is the maximum duration we put in writing; the duration item by item, what is left out and what maintenance keeps it valid are the three things to ask for, and to have in writing, before you sign. Further down you will find the list of the right questions.

«Because the sea makes no allowances, and neither do we.»
— from the NAVY range catalogue

What stands behind the figure

Four things
that last

We are so sure of our work that we offer up to 15 years' warranty. That is not bravado: it comes from choices of materials and workmanship made beforehand, on the bench, which then make a long warranty possible. Here they are, one by one, with the numbers we can state.

The tubes

ORCA fabric,
not PVC

From the NAVY 4.80 to the NAVY 7.60 the tubes are ORCA fabric by Pennel & Flipo, 1.3 mm Hypalon-neoprene; the NAVY 9.50 Cabin has ORCA Hypalon-neoprene tubes too. It is the rubber the manufacturer itself rates as the most resistant to sun and ageing for boats that stay outdoors all year, and it can be cold-repaired with glue and fabric of the same colour even years later. A tube like that is not a throwaway part: it is the first reason the warranty can be long.

FIG. 03 — Naviglia vision: the glued seam of a tube, up close.

The seams

Tested one
by one

The fabric is cut by hand or by machine, bonded with two-part adhesives, and on the seams that work hardest the hand-made welds are doubled or tripled. Then every single tube goes through a pressure test and a visual inspection before it is fitted to the hull. In practice, the warranty starts there: on a bench, with a pressure gauge, not at the signature.

FIG. 04 — Naviglia vision: white gelcoat, glossy as porcelain.

The fibreglass

Increased
thicknesses

Hull, deck, transom platforms and console are fibreglass with increased thicknesses, protected by marine gelcoat and laminated by hand or by infusion; you choose it white or black. The moulds are designed by Italian engineers and designers. It is the part of the boat that brings you home when the sea gets up, and the one that has to age best of all.

The method

One boat
at a time

Every NAVY is built to order, one at a time, with no assembly line: the people who fit it out know it piece by piece, from the inner moulding to the upholstery. That is why we can put our name to a long warranty and answer for it ourselves, directly, if one day something is not right.

How we build a NAVY

The NAVY 7.60 at anchor, three-quarters from astern, the outboard at rest and hills of Mediterranean scrub behind. This is not a set: it is an August day in the life of a NAVY owner. It is on days like this, repeated for years, that a boat shows how it was built; and that is why a long warranty is worth more than ten adjectives.

Who answers you

One point of contact,
afterwards too

Direct sales: from configuration to delivery the customer deals with Naviglia Yachts in Aprilia (Latina), with no local dealers in between. The price-list terms say it in one line: for any problem or assistance, the customer contacts our customer service. That means us: the person who prepared your quote is the same one who picks up the phone once the boat is yours. There is nobody in between, and no number belonging to another company.

One thing should be said plainly: the Naviglia Yachts commercial warranty is in addition to the rights the law already grants to buyers. It neither replaces nor reduces them.

TAV. 07 — The other warranties on board

The RIB is our warranty.
The rest is warranted by whoever builds it.

The engine is not included in the list price and carries its manufacturer's warranty: Honda, Yamaha or Mercury, on the conditions each of them publishes for leisure use. The same goes for the tube fabric and the helm electronics. Each warranty covers its own part and has its own rules: they must not be confused with one another, nor with the Naviglia warranty. Durations and conditions are on the brand pages, and we go through them with you when you choose your engine.

Honda, Yamaha and Mercury: the outboards we fit to NAVY RIBs. The brand is your choice, and we quote the engine together with the boat.

The tube fabric

Five years
of airtightness

Pennel & Flipo, which makes ORCA fabric at its single plant in Mouscron, Belgium, backs its RIB fabrics in the 820, 828, 866 and 859 grades with a 5-year contractual guarantee on airtightness, running from the roll's date of manufacture and in addition to the legal guarantee. Cosmetic defects such as stains, scratches and mould, which affect neither performance nor durability, are excluded; the remedy provided is the replacement of the defective material.

It is a guarantee from the fabric manufacturer, with its own rules and its own traceability: every roll has its number. The Naviglia warranty on the RIB is a different thing, with a different scope, and we keep the two separate on this page as well.

  • Up to 25 years. That is the lifespan the manufacturer states for a well-kept Hypalon tube.
  • Cold repairs. Glue, hardener and fabric in the same colour are still available years later.
  • Type-approved fabric. Bureau Veritas type approval to ISO 6185 for leisure craft, grade by grade.
  • 29 ORCA colours in the catalogue. On the NAVY boats the three standard ones are Notte Profonda, Pietra Bianca and Blu Navy; the others are available on request.

Before you sign

The right questions,
to have in writing

A warranty is worth as much as its written conditions. Before you sign the sales contract, ask us these questions; the answers change with the model, the fit-out and the engine you choose, which is why they do not fit in one line of a website: they have to be asked, and read calmly, in black and white, before signing.

  • How long, part by part. Hull and deck, tubes, fittings: there is one maximum duration, but more than one item.
  • What is left out. In which cases the cover does not apply, and what makes it lapse.
  • What maintenance is required. What to do, how often, and who must do it for the warranty to stay valid.
  • How to open a claim. Who to write to, which documents are needed, who assesses the defect and how quickly.
  • Who looks after the boat. Where the work is done and who takes care of transport.
  • If the boat changes hands. Whether the warranty follows the boat or stays with the first buyer.

Keep the sales contract and the delivery report safe: they are the documents your NAVY arrived with, and the first ones needed if you ever write to us. For the engine, keep its papers and service records to hand: the manufacturer's warranty runs through them.

Questions about the warranty

Frequently asked
questions

These are the questions that reach our office when the warranty comes up, with the answer we give in person. One at a time: open one and the other closes.

How is a NAVY built? Which tubes does it have? How many years' warranty?

Every boat is built to order, one at a time, with no assembly line. From the 4.80 to the 7.60 the tubes are ORCA fabric by Pennel & Flipo, 1.3 mm Hypalon-neoprene; the NAVY 9.50 Cabin has ORCA Hypalon-neoprene tubes too. The hulls are fibreglass with increased thicknesses. We are so sure of our work that we offer up to 15 years' warranty.

Does «up to 15 years» mean 15 years on everything?

Fifteen years is the maximum duration, and it is written in the terms and conditions of the price list: «All our products are covered by a 15-year warranty». A NAVY, however, is made of parts with different lives: fibreglass hull and deck, ORCA fabric tubes, engine, electronics. The engine and the electronics carry their own manufacturers' warranties. The duration item by item, the exclusions and the required maintenance are the things to ask for, and to have in writing, before you sign.

Is the engine included in the RIB's warranty?

The engine is not included in the list price and carries its manufacturer's warranty: Honda, Yamaha or Mercury, on the conditions each company publishes for leisure use. The brand is your choice; when you choose your engine we also explain how its warranty works and what it asks in return, servicing included.

Does the tube fabric have a guarantee of its own?

Yes. Pennel & Flipo backs its ORCA RIB fabrics in the 820, 828, 866 and 859 grades with a 5-year contractual guarantee on airtightness, from the roll's date of manufacture, in addition to the legal guarantee; cosmetic defects are excluded and the remedy is the replacement of the defective material. It is a guarantee from the fabric manufacturer, with its own rules. The Naviglia Yachts warranty on the RIB is separate and must not be confused with it.

Who do I turn to if I have a problem after delivery?

To us, directly. We handle sales ourselves from Aprilia (province of Latina), with nobody in between, and the price-list terms state that for any problem or assistance the customer contacts our customer service: telephone 380 173 0961, WhatsApp 380 173 0961, email info@navigliayachts.com. Keep the sales contract and the delivery report to hand: they save everyone time.

Does the commercial warranty replace the legal one?

No. The Naviglia Yachts commercial warranty is in addition to the rights the law grants to buyers: it neither replaces nor reduces them. The conditions of the commercial warranty should be asked for and read in writing before you sign.
