Spontaneous application · NAVY RIBs · Italian brand

There is no list of vacancies to fill. There is a young brand that designs, fits out and sells the NAVY RIBs directly, and that genuinely reads the applications of people with a trade to bring aboard.

TAV. 02

Who we are, in a few lines

No job adverts.
A trade, yes.

Naviglia Yachts is the Italian boating brand of Michelessi Corporation Srl, with a showroom in Aprilia (LT), between Rome and Latina. It designs and fits out the NAVY RIBs, six models from 4.80 to 9.80 metres overall, and sells them directly to the people who will use them, with no local dealers in between.

On this page you will not find open positions with grand titles: we do not publish any unless they correspond to a real job. You will find instead how the work behind a NAVY is done, which trades count in a boatyard like ours and the simplest way to introduce yourself: an email with your CV, which we read and keep. When we look for a specific person, we will write it here, on this page, before anywhere else.

How we work here

One boat
at a time

Every NAVY is built to order, one at a time, with no assembly line: it is the sentence the office writes to customers and it is also the most honest description of what a working day here looks like. There are no shifts in front of a conveyor belt: there is a boat with a name on it, the name of the person who ordered it, and four fronts of work passing the baton to one another.

The tubes

ORCA fabric,
hands and pressure

The tubes are made of ORCA fabric by Pennel & Flipo, Hypalon-neoprene: cutting, gluing with two-part adhesives, double or triple hand-made welds on the seams that work hardest, then the pressure test and the visual inspection, tube by tube. From the 4.80 to the NAVY 7.60 the fabric is 1.3 mm thick. It is precision work learnt with the hands and with patience: no tube goes onto a hull before it has been tested.

Fibreglass and deck

Hull, deck,
console

Hull, deck, stern platforms and console are in fibreglass with increased thicknesses, white or black, with marine gelcoat. The moulds are designed by Italian engineers and designers. Much of the quality the customer touches is decided when the deck is fitted out: side decks, lockers, courtesy lights, the teak-effect flooring in 24 shades, the hatches that close flush with the fibreglass.

Upholstery, teak, stainless steel

The things
you touch

The upholstery comes in a Standard line and in a diamond-quilted Luxury line, 14 colours, with the logo embroidered or embossed on the backrest. The stainless steel is mirror-polished: bow fitting, windlass, pop-up cleats, bathing ladders. Solid natural teak comes as an option. Then the helm electronics go in and, last of all, the engine: Honda, Yamaha or Mercury, the make is the customer's choice, and it is fitted and tested before delivery.

With the people who buy

From the first call
to the launch

Sales are direct: the person who advises the customer on day one is the same person who answers them after delivery. That means a showroom by appointment, phone calls, video calls for those who live far away, written quotes item by item, sea trials on the Pontine coast aboard the NAVY 7.60, and finally delivery to the harbour of the customer's choice or straight to their home, including outside the Lazio region. Dealing with people is half the job, and not the easy half.

The trades of a NAVY

If your trade
is one of these

These are not job adverts: they are the jobs a NAVY RIB asks, every day, of the people who bring it to life and of the people who deliver it. If one of them is yours, or you want it to become yours, a spontaneous application is the right way to tell us. Write which one, and for how long.

FIG. 06 — The five-spoke stainless wheel, with its black knob, is in sharp focus; behind it you can make out the radio and two round gauges. The white console fades into the blur, the grey flooring closes the frame at the bottom.
  • Boat fitting-out. Fitting the deck, upholstery, stainless steel and teak-effect flooring: a steady hand and an eye for the finished detail, the one the customer touches first.
  • Tubes. Cutting, gluing, hand welding and pressure tests on ORCA Hypalon-neoprene fabric: the work that keeps the air in.
  • Outboard mechanics. Installing, wiring and testing the Honda, Yamaha and Mercury engines we power the NAVYs with, one or two on the transom.
  • Systems and marine electronics. The 12-volt system, navigation and courtesy lights, windlasses, chartplotter and VHF at the helm: everything that switches on must still switch on in 10 years' time.
  • Sales and customers. Phone, showroom, video calls, written quotes item by item, in Italian and in English: the price first, then everything else, with no beating about the bush.
  • The sea. Sea trials and summer RIB rental: you need a boating licence and the calm of someone who takes people aboard who have never driven a RIB before.
  • Transport and delivery. Trailers, launching, delivery to the harbour the customer names or straight to their home: the last day of our work is the first day of their boat.
  • Office. Orders to suppliers, deposit invoices, sales contracts and delivery reports: a boat is also born from paperwork kept in order.

How to apply

One email,
and we are there

No forms with ten fields and no CV links to paste into a box: you write to info@navigliayachts.com with the subject «Spontaneous application». The button at the bottom opens the email for you, ready to go, with the lines to fill in. Three steps, and none of them is complicated.

We will

We read every application and we keep it. If your profile matches a need in the boatyard we will phone you for a meeting in person in Aprilia (LT): we talk, we look at a boat, we find out whether we are on the same course.

Before you write,
come and see

A RIB tells the story of the people who fitted it out better than any page could: the stitching of the upholstery, the flooring, the mirror-polished steel. Come and see them in person. Then try them at sea. It holds for those who want to buy one and it holds for those who want to work on them.

The questions applicants ask

Frequently asked questions

What people who would like to work with us ask, with the answer we give over the phone: positions, email, location, experience, timing, data. One at a time: open one and the other closes.

Are there any open positions at the moment?

No, we have no adverts published. We do not write positions that do not correspond to a real job: if and when we look for a specific person, you will find it on this page. In the meantime a spontaneous application is the right way to introduce yourself: we read it and we keep it.

How do I send my application?

By email to info@navigliayachts.com, subject «Spontaneous application», with your CV attached as a PDF and a few lines about you: your trade, how long you have practised it, where you live. The button on this page opens the email already set up, with the lines to fill in.

Where is the work?

In Aprilia (LT), between Rome and Latina, where the showroom is and from where the NAVYs are fitted out and delivered. In summer part of the work moves onto the water: sea trials on the Pontine coast and the RIBs out on rental.

Do I need experience in boating?

It depends on the trade. For fitting-out what counts is your hands and your attention to the finished detail: anyone coming from upholstery, joinery or car bodywork already has much of what is needed. For sales what counts is listening and being clear about the numbers. To take the boats out you need a boating licence. Tell us what you can really do: working out where it can be useful is our job.

I have never worked in boating: is it worth applying?

Yes, if you have a manual trade or experience with customers, and the wish to learn how a RIB is made. Say so plainly: what you can do and what you want to learn. Two honest lines are better than an inflated CV.

How long does it take to get an answer?

We do not promise timings we cannot keep: we reply when there is something concrete to tell you. If your profile matches a need in the boatyard we phone you for a meeting; in any case your application stays on file for the searches to come.

What happens to my data?

It is used only to assess your application, as set out in the privacy notice, and we do not use it for anything else. You can ask us at any time to update or delete it, by writing to the same email address.

Can I bring my CV in person?

Yes, but write to us first: the showroom is visited by appointment and we set the day together. That way the person who receives you has time to read your application and to show you a boat in person.
